How can a woman tell if a man is having a hard-on while talking to her, when his bottom-half is hidden from view?
This guy I flirt with works in a public place where they were serving free samples of food. He was standing behind a table stand, dressed in a festive costume. I made a silly joke about wanting photos so I could blackmail him. Usually I wear oversized clothes, but that day I was wearing a very tight top showing off my chest. (I am average size.) Suddenly he moved to the other end of the table stand, completely avoiding me. I'm afraid I scared him! I didn't know if I embarrassed him with my joke (coming on too strong) or it was something else. He seemed very nervous and uncomfortable, which is unlike him. I did catch him sneaking glances at my body so all is not lost.
Could he have been aroused and didn't want me to know?
Need a guy's perspective.

It is very odd for a male to show such stumped bahaviour,
Making jokes makes male feell relaxed and confortable around women. So I would expect him to resppond in a similar manner.
However he might not be interested actually. The time will show if he was interested.

Thanks Chris for your perspective. I must admit it wasn't the answer I wanted to hear!
Actually he did joke back with me. (We have joked with each other in the past, but I was teasing him in front of everyone so my teasing may have backfired.)
If he wasn't interested, why would he be checking me out? Or is this just typical male behavior?

Lol.
No as a male, i don't check out girls in an obvious way lol. As a matter of fact, if i walking and i see a girl, i look away lol!
Maybe he got a bit nervous around you. Could feel like an idiot in his costume. Or maybe he did not want it to appear like he was checking you out?? Cuz some guys can't talk to a girl without checking her out. If he is that type of a guy, maybe he did not want to do it blatantly. lol.

Slightly weird behavior. If he was checking you out after then he might well be interested, he just might not be use to women approaching him.
Me personally i would have enjoyed the comment and truned it into full blown banter - just so you know
