I have been married for 20 years. On a workplace I got immediately attracted to an adorable woman who's much younger then me. The problem is that she will stop by all the other guys and start a conversation.
She started talking to me like she knew me for years! I couldn't believe it! She doesn't talk to me at work, but she was talking to me at the bar. She calls all the other guys at work by their first name. Now I'm completely biased if I should follow my emotions or turn her down.
Try to act in all situations honest and straightforward because that is the best. People really do want the truth. I feel we cannot help whom we are attracted to, because hormones and chemicals in our brains and body can't be switched to the "off" position.
However, we can control how we act upon those attractions. You say when you say hi to her all you get is a hi back. You're in a professional atmosphere. You extended a greeting, and she returned the greeting. That is all you should reasonably expect.
You almost fell off the barstool when she talked to you. She probably picked up on that. Maybe your reaction to her talking is embarrassing to her.
She might talk to others longer because they don't show they're attracted, if they are. It could be she senses your attraction and it makes her uncomfortable.
Bottom line: It seems you are way “ too interested ” in her. I think you read way too much into every moment around her. You may feel very attracted, but that doesn't mean that she does.
